2022 Accomplishments:
Vegetable Gardens
We built on last year's successful gardens by creating four additional vegetable garden beds and installing a new water irrigation system. We continued our community outreach and partnerships with Evanston Grows, Garden Club of Evanston and the City of Evanston. All produce raised was donated to older adults in the Levy community. With the City of Evanston, we held three farm stands where community produce was distributed.

Maintain Rothschild Gardens
Funded updates to the Rothschild Garden in the courtyard, including
four new birdhouses.

Dennis Newton Scholarship Fund
Underwrite Subsidized City outings to the theater,
museums, gardens, sports venues and other cultural experiences through
Dennis Newton Scholarships. As well as underwrite Heaven Can Wait and the 100th Birthday program.

Hoops For the Ages
We helped to facilitate the inaugural 3-on-3 basketball tournament for men and women 40+ last spring. This year, the tournament is being held in conjunction with the Aging Well Conference, and will also host yoga and exercise classes as well as information sessions on an array of subjects, including posture and balance, nutrition and heart education, muscles and bones and the immune system.

Donor Leaf Wall
We constructed an additional Donor Leaf Wall, across from the fitness room, which expanded on the theme of leaves to honor our very generous donors.
Levy Lecture Series
We hosted 12 free virtual lectures covering subjects from The Beatles to the Gorillas of Uganda, and our first hybrid lecture with Northlight Theatre director BJ Jones and old friend, actor Mike Nussbaum reading a short David Mamet play. Most lectures are available on our YouTube channel.
Levy Longevity Series
We hosted four free presentations via Zoom covering several topics of interest to older adults: Mobility, Stability, and Balance; Matters of the Heart; What’s What in Exercise and Gut Health and You. All presentations are available on our YouTube channel.

Jamming Jean Concerts
We hosted three free concerts. Two took place in James Park and were attended by huge crowds: Suite Mollie in June and Chicken Bone in September. In December, Gerald McClendon and His Band got the crowd dancing in the gym.

Fran Randall Concert Series
We presented three free concerts with performances by young, gifted classical musicians.

High Lights Writer's Workshops
We underwrote six workshops offered in partnership with Northlight Theatre. Attendees included alumni and newcomers.

Photo Challenge 2022
The LSCF ran a photo challenge of photos taken of seniors at the Levy Senior Center and at LSCF events. 1st - 4th place winners and honorable mentions were selected. Winners each received $50 Yiftee gift cards to the Evanston restaurant or shop of their choice.

Arts for Everyone
Through a partnership with Northlight Theatre, 25 pairs of tickets were awarded to LSC members for four NLT productions in their 2022 season. The program helps break down the barriers that keep people in our community from attending live theatre.
