Levy Senior Center Foundation Loses a Longtime Member and Friend

Updated: Sep 15, 2020

We share with great sadness the passing of Gunnar Forrest, 89, a dedicated member of the Levy Senior Center Foundation board and a long-term member of and volunteer at the Levy Senior Center. Gunnar participated enthusiastically in the Choraleers, the Monday/Wednesday club, and Levy Lectures. He was a friend to many and always had a big smile, even as his health declined.

Gunnar was extremely proud of his Swedish heritage, having been born there in 1931, although by 1940, his parents, his sister, and Gunnar had relocated to New Trier, Illinois.

The Levy Senior Center Foundation board is accepting donations in Gunnar’s memory so that he may be remembered with an engraved leaf on the tribute wall facing the Rothschild Garden. If you would like to honor Gunnar with a contribution, please send a check to the Foundation care of the Levy Senior Center or contribute online. Please indicate on the memo line of the check or the online form that your gift is to honor Gunnar’s memory.

Rest in peace, Gunnar. You will be missed.
